After working for 11 years and being a working mom, I have recently decided to become a stay home mom. Strange decision since all but 1 of my kids are in school throughout the day huh? My husband recently was offered a great job opportunity. However, it came with longer hours and a longer drive. With 2 parents having demanding jobs, things were becoming hectic in our house. So we decided to bite the bullet and I quit my job.

So a little bit about my family. My husband and I have been together since 2010. We have 5 kids. I have a 10 year old son from a previous relationship and a 2 year old son with my husband. My husband has 2 kids from a previous relationship as well, a 12 year old girl and an 8 year old son. He shares full custody of them. We also have an angel baby and she passed away in 2012. I have one of the new terms of a “blended family”.

We are currently renting a room in our house to my 23 year old brother and his girlfriend. Luckily we have a partially finished basement so they are able to have their own bedroom and living room.

After being a working mom for over 10 years, being a stay at home mom is definitely a new experience for me. So I decided to start a blog about learning to become a stay at home mom. This is about all of my challenges. From learning how to grocery shop ( I guess I can’t feed my family fast food and frozen meals every night since I’m home all day and can cook) to learning how to manage a routine for myself and my toddler for the day (ugh nap times, bed time, lunch time and wait I should probably teach him some stuff right?). I am getting to experience things that I didn’t get to with my oldest son. My toddler actually calls me Mommy, wants me when he’s upset and I know what he’s saying when he talks his toddler gibberish. Rather than look at my sister with a dumbfounded look on my face and her translating what my kid wants.

With that I have also decided to start myself on a fitness routine and lose some weight. This is not so easy since everyone else in my house as an abnormally fast metabolism and needs to eat a lot. I unfortunately suffer from loving food way too much and a slow metabolism.

I guess here we go! Cheers to a new stay at home mommy routine and fitness routine!! And yes, I’m holding a giant bottle of water.
